InoBat and SOR team up on electric bus fleets

Published: June 7, 2021

As Europe’s electric vehicle market gathers pace, Slovakian battery startup InoBat is expecting to scale up rapidly over the next few years.

On April 27th, the electric vehicle battery developer InoBat announced it had teamed up with SOR, a Czech bus and coach producer, to create batteries for a new electric bus fleet. This marks the first time InoBat, a Slovakian startup founded in 2019, has ventured into the commercial vehicle market. It also represents a milestone for SOR, which is aiming to drive forward the electrification of Europe’s buses and coaches.

Marian Bocek, InoBat’s CEO and co-founder, remarks that the agreement with SOR highlights the company’s ambition to produce batteries for all types of electric vehicle, not just passenger cars.

“We must drive towards a shift to E-mobility for all types of vehicles if we are to properly execute the transition to the electrification of transport in Europe,” he tells EMEA Finance. “This agreement with SOR is an important milestone for us and the commercial vehicle market in Europe.”

InoBat already has an impressive track record for a company that has only been around for two-and-a-half years.
