New non-exec at CDC

African entrepreneur Valentine Chitalu joins development finance institution.

CDC, the UK’s development finance institution, has appointed African entrepreneur Valentine Chitalu as a non-executive director.

For the past six years, Chitalu has specialised in private equity and local private sector development in Zambia and elsewhere in southern Africa. Prior to that he worked for CDC Capital Partners in London and Lusaka, where he identified investment opportunities in southern Africa and managed portfolios in Zambia and Malawi.

He has also been CEO of the Zambia Privatisation Agency, where he was responsible for the divestiture of more than 240 enterprises.
