Jelasity heads Erste Hungary

Former National Bank of Serbia governor replaces Papp.

Radovan Jelasity has been named the new chief executive and chairman of Erste Bank in Hungary.

He takes up the position on June 1, pending approval by the Hungarian authorities. He replaces Edit Papp, who has resigned after 10 years at the bank.

The role includes covering the chief financial officer’s responsibilities.
Jelasity was the governor of the National Bank of Serbia between 2004 and 2010, consolidating the Serbian banking and insurance sector while strengthening the country’s regulatory and supervisory framework.

Jelasity started his banking career at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt where he worked for four years as a regional manager responsible for Central and Eastern Europe. He then focused on banking projects in Germany, Poland and Bulgaria while at consultancy McKinsey & Company.
