Citi hires head of SWF coverage

Former Standard Chartered director joins bank’s institutional clients group.

Citi has hired Zubaid Ahmad as vice-chairman of its institutional clients group to lead the bank’s global sovereign wealth fund coverage initiatives.

Ahmad has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry in the US and emerging markets, working with corporate, private equity and sovereign wealth fund clients.

He joins Citi from Standard Chartered, where he was head of corporate finance for the Americas. Before that, he held senior positions at JP Morgan, including vice-chairman and chief operating officer of Americas Investment Banking and vice-chairman of its financial sponsor group.
