Standard Chartered has appointed Venkatesh Rathnam as the global head of securities services operations.

Rathnam joins Standard Chartered from Citibank where he was previously the Asia Pacific regional head of operations overseeing the operations of the securities and fund services businesses. Rathnam brings with him 20 years of experience in areas covering product development, operations and technology.  In his role at Standard Chartered, he will oversee the global operations and service delivery for the bank’s clearing, custody and funds administration business. He will be based in Singapore and will report to Patrick Tam, chief information officer, wholesale banking.

Rathnam replaces David Gilmour who has been appointed head of investor and intermediaries sales – North Asia for Standard Chartered.  During Gilmou’s term as global head of securities services operations, he played a key role in building the operations team and support infrastructure, significantly raising the bar on customer services which has contributed to the strong growth of the securities business within Standard Chartered’s transaction banking.  Gilmour continues to be based in Hong Kong.
