New MD to target Middle East and Eastern Europe at private bank.

Switzerland’s Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) has hired Michel Longhini as managing director of its private banking division, tasked with increasing the bank’s presence in emerging markets.

Longhini has more than 20 years of experience in private asset management and was formerly head of BNP Paribas Wealth Management International. At UBP he will help the bank open new markets in Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He will also join the bank’s executive committee.

The appointment is the latest in a series of hires and promotions to the bank’s executive committee, following the arrival of Richard Wohanka as CEO of asset management and alternative investments, Eftychia Fischer as head of treasury and trading and Ian Cramb as chief operating officer.
