Board restructured following Heinz Wiedner’s Hungary move.

Aris Bogdaneris has become Raiffeisen Bank’s new chief operating officer following Heinz Wiedner’s promotion to chief executive of the bank’s Hungarian operation.

The Canadian will continue to be responsible for the bank’s retail operations, a role he took up six years ago when he joined the board.

Wiedner’s move to Budapest prompted a restructuring of the bank’s managing board, reducing its number from eight people to seven. His responsibilities have been split between Bogdaneris and Raiffeisen Bank International chief executive Herbert Stepic, who takes charge of organisational and internal control systems.

Bogdaneris assumes responsibility for IT; operations and productivity management; credit services; and transaction services. Before joining Raiffeisen he spent a decade at GE Capital, where he held several positions, including chief operating officer of its Budapest subsidiary, where he later went on to serve as chief executive.
