Riyadh office will serve public and private sectors.

Mercer, a consultancy, has opened an office in Saudi Arabia to meet growing demand from the kingdom’s public and private sectors.

The new office is based in Riyadh and operates with an initial team of five consultants led by chief executive Paulo Machado. The firm will advise companies on pay, corporate governance and other issues.

Mercer has had a presence in the Middle East since it opened a Dubai office three years ago, which today has more than 40 consultants, researchers and support staff, mostly human capital, employee benefits and rewards and investment specialists.

Cameron Hannah, Mercer’s market head for Eastern Europe & Middle East, says that the firm’s expansion into Saudi Arabia shows its commitment to the region: “We have every confidence that the kingdom will continue to develop and thrive, and we look forward to playing our part in supporting local organisations with their future growth.”
