Carre de Malberg to develop the bank’s investment banking business.

Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) has named Alex Carre de Malberg as its global head of investment and merchant banking.

He will develop the bank’s investment banking offering for clients in Qatar, the UAE and Oman. Under his leadership CBQ will lead, structure, underwrite and place debt and equity products.

Andy Stevens, group chief executive, said Carre de Malberg was chosen due to his industry relationships and global experience.

He has almost two decades of investment banking experience including spells at Lazard Freres in the US and Peregrine Capital in the Far East. He became Rothschild Middle East’s head of investment banking in 2006 after working for the bank in Europe.
