UK development finance institutionhires Colin Buckley.

CDC Group, the UK’s development finance institution, has named Colin Buckley as its new chief operating officer.

Buckley was previously the executive director for investments at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, where he headed its expansion of health, education and nutrition programmes in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Between 2005 and 2009, Buckley managed some US$400mn in US government funding for the Millennium Challenge Corporation. In partnership with the government of Georgia, he oversaw infrastructure projects, grants to agricultural business and small business funding.

CDC invests in south Asia and sub-Saharan Africa and has net assets of £2.6bn (US$4bn).
