CEO steps down after 13 years, but will remain with group as senior banker.
Jacko Maree has stepped down as group chief executive of Standard Bank.
Maree has been CEO of the African bank for more than 13 years. He’ll now remain with the group as a senior banker, but will not hold an executive or managerial role.
Sim Tshabalala and Ben Kruger have been appointed joint chief executives in his place.
Tshabalala, chief executive of the bank’s South Africa business, will now also run the banking businesses outside elsewhere on the continent, as well as taking charge of the group’s wealth businesses.
Kruger will remain chairman of the bank and continue to run its personal and business banking as well as corporate and investment banking divisions.
